Following the shoot ive just come off, due to limited storage and transport space we had to leave a lot of stuff behind, these included 2 statues one giant crucifix and two others which were smashed along with tons of other things small things such as denotation wire, gold, silver and black paint , a few props etc etc,

wonder what the big studios throw away ort leave behind, or what happens to everything

    Tons Ill bet.
A friend of mine used to work at Pinewood studios and one day he found them throwing away loads of the background artwork scenery for the film The Dark Crystal. So he snatched some of it up damn quickly.

Is there not a city buried in the desert
somewhere? Which was a set made for one
    of the epics?

Can't remember the film, but I think it
was a stone city made from wood and such.
The left it and the sand slowly buried it.

Something for future archiologists to find
    and ponder about.

    Cool

Scottish television in Glasgow skipped a lot of their old props recently. My friend raided the skip and retrieved ww1 British helmets worth about ?200- each and got me a flashing blue light and a police flag from TAGGART. The stuff was thrown out by Janitors that did not know any of the worth. It must happen all the time really. I also work in the theatre as a set designer - two weeks ago I threw out a revolve worth ?2500- because it was too big to keep and I couldn't find a buyer. Storage costs mean that good stuff is thrown out all the time. Happy skip raiding... Cheers Carter www.fightdirector.com

    Andy.
The film you're thinking of is the 1934 version of Cleopatra, Directed by Cecil B Demille. They left it in the desert because it would cost too much for storage.
